22. How will the journey on LTC performed by a private/personal transport be regulated assuming that the place is not connected by any public transport?

Ans: For journey between places not connected by any Public/Government means of transport, reimbursement as per entitlement for a maximum of 100 kms. will be allowed. Expenditure for distance beyond 100kms. should be borne by the Government servant.

23. What are the penalties imposed for misuse of LTC?

Ans: If a Government servant is charged of misuse of LTC-

  1. He shell not be allowed the next two sets of LTC in addition to the LTC already withheld.
  2. In case of grave misuse, he may be disallowed more than two sets of LTC.
  3. This will be without prejudice to the punishment for any proved misconduct in disciplinary proceedings.
24. What is the time –limit for drawal of LTC advance?

Ans: The time –limit for drawal of LTC advance is 125 days for journeys by train and 65 days for journeys by other modes of transport, viz. air/road/sea.

25. Can a recovery of advance be made in installments?

Ans: No.

Ans: Yes.

28. If a Government servant, on transfer to North-East Region vacates Government quarters and keeps his family in a rented or own house at the old section, will he be eligible for additional HRA?

Ans: Yes.

29. What is the age- limit of an unmarried son and unmarried daughter who are wholly dependent on a Government servant for reimbursement of medical claim?

Ans:

  • Unmarried son : 25 years
  • Unmarried daughter : No age- limit
30. How is the eligibility of family members of a Central Government employee determined with reference to the income limit, for availing medical facilities?

Ans: The income limit is Rs. 9,000 plus dearness Relief as on the date of consideration.

31. Is it necessary to obtain a referral letter for undergoing treatment at private hospitals empanelled under CGHS?

Ans: No, the prescription in original (or a self- attested photocopy) along with hospital bill is sufficient for treatment of procedures for which CGHS rates are available.

32. What is the amount of advance granted to serving beneficiaries for indoor treatment?

Ans: 90% of approved CGHS package rates.

33. What is the validity period for a private hospital recognized under CS (MA) Rules?

Ans: As per the instant guidelines, private hospitals are recognized for a fixed period of 4 years from the date of issue of OM.

34. Can a beneficiary holding a valid CGHS card get treatment at a private empanelled hospital during an emergency?

Ans: Yes.

35. A spouse of a Central Government employee is also employee under central Government and is eligible for a separate card. Is it necessary for them to obtain separate CGHS cards?

Ans: No. The spouse drawing higher pay shall obtain the card and the other spouse can avail CGHS benefits as a member.

36. Is an unmarried son aged 26 and not employed but wholly dependent on a Government servant eligible for CGHS benefits?

Ans: No. Unmarrid sons below the age of 25 years are only eligible.

37. Under what circumstance is a nominee debarred from receiving retirement Gratuity/ Death Gratuity?

Ans: When a nominee is convicted for murder or abatement of murder of the employee, his/her share of gratuity will be paid to the other members of the family as per extent rules.

38. What is the minimum period of service which should have been rendered by a deceased Government servant to be eligible for higher rate of family pension?

Ans: A higher rate of family pension (enhanced family pension) is admissible to the family, if the deceased Government servant had rendered not less than seven years ‘continuous service.

39. In the event of the dependent parents becoming directly eligible to receive family pension, when the deceased Government servant in not survived by a widow / widower or a child, are they eligible for family pension at enhanced rates?

Ans: No, parents are eligible for family pension at ordinary rate only.

40. Can the family of a Government servant be given the benefit of commutation of pension if the pensioner dies before exercising option?

Ans: No.
